How far can CM Punk go in WWE History

Cenatitlenoc_crop_exact

It is now more than a year since CM Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio for the WWE title, and in that time frame, there may never have been a WWE champion who has been as critiqued, criticized, cheered, booed and misunderstood in some instances than the current titleholder.

As an ECW champion once, the world heavyweight champion three times and the WWE champion twice, Punk has cemented himself as one of the greatest champions in this company, but it is this current reign as champion which has really defined him as a top wrestler in the WWE.

From the time he dropped his famous “shoot interview” until now, we as fans have loved and hated him like no other wrestler, ever.

This includes John Cena, Hulk Hogan and any other wrestler who has grown tired on the WWE Universe as a champion and a longtime solution to title reigns when there have been other competent performers who could have carried the flagship.

CM Punk is a true enigma, a hero to some with his words and his style, a villain to others with his attitude and his appearance. He is the antithesis of Cena and The Rock and a small resemblance to the beginnings of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Punk represents many great wrestlers all rolled into one.

Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and even Harley Race can all be seen in Phillip Jack Brooks. He transcends the decades and brings the show of past years to the fans. And when he’s “on” and performing like he does, there are few others who can sell a match like it is the greatest thing ever created.

Watch matches with Cena, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and R-Truth from 18 months ago, and you see a man who helped his opponents get over in the business. He is a true performer, who broke the stereotype that Vince McManhon created, insisting the world champion must be a “big hulking wrestler.”

His words stung, his demeanor was sullen and he has bitched and whined and complained and it all made sense because we all bought into his character. His legacy is cemented in the fact that he can command attention like Austin or Jericho or Michaels or any other WWE Superstar of the past.

And fans are either cheering him or booing him. There is no “in the middle” with him like Cena who is the Tim Tebow of his generation.

Punk is as much an important part of the new “era” of wrestling as Degeneration X, Mr. McMahon, Steve Austin and the “Montreal Screw Job” is to the business. That has to do with the growth of Punk’s character and the direction this company is moving. While writers are still in “PG” mode, the degree to which writers are “pushing the envelope” means we will see Punk push the edge as well.

This can only help cement his legacy even more, which is a good thing for the WWE.

CM Punk: Just As Bad As John Cena?

Came across an interesting statement today:
CM Punk is the worst thing going in WWE right now along with Cena.

As this shocked my and I certainly don’t believe this to be true, I hate to admit, there are some pretty decent points to be made.

The WWE has actually done a lot for CM Punk (Even though he may deserve it)
Look what WWE has done to make punk a top star –
1. They allowed him to shoot that famous promo last year, when he could say whatever he wanted.
2. They put him over Cena multiple times.
3. They allowed him to ‘steal’ Jericho’s gimmick and allowed him to go over him.
4. They forced Bryan to job him many times even when he was the hottest commodity in the WWE or I should say in whole wrestling world.
5. They’re giving him most lengthy Title reign in recent memory.
6. They allowed Punk to close historic RAW 1000.
7. They allowed him to feud with a Mega Superstar The Rock.
8. They allowed him to have war of words with SCSA and teased us a future match.
9. He became 1st man to not lose the Title in a MITB contract cash in.
10. They allowed him to carry the show by his own.

AND Instead of all this What WWE has Got from Punk ? Lowest ratings in last 15 years!

Although the entire show’s ratings cannot be  solely on the shoulders of Punk? During this whole ratings downturn the person with the most TV time has been Cena, the push of Sheamus who has never caught fire like some of the past WHC’s.

In my opinion CM Punk is pretty much the only reason I watch WWE. I highly doubt I would be if he wasn’t there. I believe the rating slump would be much worse without him ‘carrying the show’

WWE ‘Not Impressed’ With Champion CM Punk

On Thursday morning, WWE champion CM Punk served as grand marshal for the annual Thanksgiving Day parade in Chicago.
(See Previous Posts: https://picturesofcmpunk.wordpress.com/2012/11/24/cm-punk-confirms-he-faces-the-rock-at-the-royal-rumble/

On Sunday, he will be appearing on “Talking Dead” on AMC to discuss its show, “Walking Dead.”

CM Punk Appears on the ‘The Talking Dead’ and rumors of a cameo on ‘The Walking Dead’.

Whereas the WWE often sets up media appearances for its stars, Punk set up both appearances on his own. Now the WWE and Punk are upset with each other.

The WWE is furious that Punk went over its head to reel in his two appearances because it likes to control when and where each star goes.

It is said that Punk went out on his own because he felt that the WWE would have given both spots to other “company friendly” stars.

It is truly amazing that Punk has been the WWE champion for more than a year when you consider that he is about as “anti-establishment”as any WWE star of the last 20 years.

Punk’s view the last few months on TV has been that he is disrespected. The funny thing is it isn’t just part of the storyline. He legitimately feels that way. A prime example is that Punk’s likeness hasn’t appeared on any WrestleMania 29 material released thus far.

Does he have a point?

The WWE is champion is always featured on advertising for Mania.

Always, that is, until this year.

It was fitting that Punk wore a “Paul Heyman guy” shirt on Raw on Monday because Heyman is truly the poster child of “anti-establishment.”

Possibly the greatest wrestling mind in professional wrestling since he debuted with the NWA in the late1980s, Heyman has never been a “yes man.”

Punk is anything but a “yes man,” but maybe if the WWE had more of them, storylines wouldn’t be so stale.

Are Lita (Amy Dumas) and CM Punk Still Dating – November 2012

For those of you who are still unsure if Lita and Punk are dating… Here is some snaps of  WWE Champion CM Punk and former WWE Diva Lita together at  Thursday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in Chicago.

I get loads of searches thorough this site looking to find out if they are still together answer = Yes (Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes,Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes! Sorry D-Bry couldn’t resist it.)

Here’s the Video of the Parade 🙂

And he is the rest of the pictures of CM Punk at the parade:

CM Punk Appears on the ‘The Talking Dead’ and rumors of a cameo on ‘The Walking Dead’.

WWE Champion CM Punk appeared on the AMC show “Talking Dead” this Sunday, a 30-minute discussion panel featuring actors and fans talking about the network’s hit zombie show “Walking Dead.”

CM Punk will be joined by “Community” actress/comedian Yvette Nicole Brown along with host Chris Hardwick.

Punk better be up to speed on The Walking Dead. The too cool for school routine won’t cut it when it comes to the weekly post show.

There has also been a huge buzz in social media that CM Punk may appear as a cameo in for AMC’s The Walking Dead at some point, as much as I feel this is unlikely, it would still be great! CM Punk teased on Twitter a few weeks ago that he would be making a guest appearance on a popular television show, but that he had to clear it with WWE before he could reveal what show that is. Word is that the show is The Walking Dead. Punk has repeatedly Tweeted that he’s a big fan of the show..

Really I think that’s just this Talking Dead program, I still highly doubt we will see a cameo from Punk

How Did CM Punk’s Win at WWE Survivor Series

This is  it, folks.  The main event of Survivor Series, the one that we have all been waiting for.

WWE Champion CM Punk versus John Cena versus Ryback.  The great part about this one is that, literally, anything can happen.

It’s a safe bet that nearly everyone was calling for Punk to retain the belt and celebrate his one year mark tomorrow night on Raw.  It’s a history making run, it puts Punk in the record books and it does more than anything else has thus far in terms of cementing his legacy in WWE.

Why in the world would you want to take that moment away from him?

But let’s not forget about John Cena who is now, as he has been for quite some time, the face of the company.

At any given moment, on any given night, Cena could once again be given the strap and reclaim his place as the top champion in the industry.

That could literally happen at anytime.

For the superstar known as Ryback, the richest prize in the business is a goal that many of us thought was extremely out of reach for him.  He was too new in his gimmick, too green with his ring-work, the deck seems to be stacked too high against him.

But Ryback has the look, he has the character and he works in a company who loves what he brings to the table.  If Vince McMahon has his way, and he usually does, Ryback will be WWE Champion at some point.

So, what happened in the match?

Punk reluctantly handed the belt to the ref, then ran from Cena.

Ryback then gave chase to Punk, attacking him, but John wanted in on the action too.  Before you knew it, the two men came face to face.

The champ slid in the back door and gained the momentary upper hand on Ryback.  However, Cena was soon back to his feet and once again stood nose to nose with Ryback.

The lock-up between the two ended with Ryback powering him down, but he was quickly back in the match.  Ryback continued to throw his weight around, kicking and punching Cena in the corner, then Irish-whipping him into the other corner.

Punk, blowing a kiss to the crowd, was soon met with Ryback’s power game as well, but was then downed by Cena.

By this point, the crowd was chanting “Let’s go Cena, Cena Sucks,” the mantra that has been repeated seemingly forever now.

But it soon amounted to nothing, once again, as John ended up outside the ring, while Punk and Ryback continued to mix it up.

Once all three men were back in the ring, Ryback continued to show his physical dominance over Cena.  John was dragged out of the ring by Punk and then thrown into the steel steps.

I have to say that while Ryback, week in and week out, is putting forth as much effort as possible to get over, he still struggles to get the crowd’s full support.

Even when Punk had him down and they began to chant “feed me more,” it did not last long.

Soon, the champ was down and Ryback was ready to hit the Meathook clothesline, which he did.  He picked Punk up for the Shell-Shock, but was suddenly dropped into Cena’s STF.

The referee kept asking Ryback if he wanted to submit, but Big Hungry held on.

That is, until CM Punk came crashing down with an elbow on both men.

Punk, suffering the effects of the drop, shook it off and was back to his feet, giving the GTS sign.  But John countered, with the crowd booing every thing that Cena did.

Ryback was now back in full effect and grabbed both Cena and Punk outside the ring.

However, both men fought their way out, hooking Ryback with a double suplex straight through the announcer table.

It then came down to the two men who have been at the top of WWE for a while now, CM Punk and John Cena.

Cena hit his usual routine of moves, but when he went for the AA, he missed it and Punk hit the GTS.

But Cena kicked out at two and the crowd was very into the match at this point.

From out of nowhere, Cena hit Punk with the AA, but this time it was the WWE Champion who kicked out.  He went to Paul Heyman, apparently for some words of encouragement, then refocused on Cena.

John attempted to lock Punk into the STF, but Punk blocked the move.

Both men were back up until Cena got Punk into the STF, when suddenly Ryback came in from nowhere and broke the hold.  Ryback grabbed Punk for the Shell-Shock, but at the last second, Cena broke up the pinfall.

Now it was Cena who as on Ryback’s shoulders.

But before he could drop him, three men clad in black rushed in from the crowd and attacked him, sending him through the other announce table.

That’s right folks, the boys from NXT are finally getting called up.

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins; welcome to WWE.

Good match, bizarre ending, and right now I honestly only have one thought; I can’t wait for Monday Night Raw.

Here’s some Pics of The NXT boys, and how CM Punk won the title at Survivor Series

LITA VS. AJ LEE! GET IT ON!

Well I already did the Is Lita the Best (Female) In the World

Was Lita The Best (Female) In The World?

BUT.. there is still this buzz about AJ lingering over CM Punks Character and to be honest I cant think over a better way for the two of them to meet in a match!

I think its pretty obvious who would be the favored victor of the match but this could run as a proper Diva Feud!

Internet Poll:

But still!! Anything with CM Punk connected is probably going to get over with the fans, just look as Cena and AJ, Cena the wwe’s biggest star cant get that storyline over!

We also know AJ Lee would be pretty cuffed about getting to work with Lita, she was a big fan and rightly so check out this video of AJ crying when meeting Lita in 2001

Pictures of CM Punk thinks this match is a real WWE money making and highly watchable storyline!

PS. Have a look at more earlier AJ Stuff!

AJ Lee: Is she the Hottest Diva, Should AJ Punk Continue?

Was Lita The Best (Female) In The World?

Just because I did one of these of AJ Lee I thought it would be fitting to do one for the amazing Lita. According to rumor and considerable incriminating evidence 😉 see what I did there. CM Punk and Lita are now together and I would love a return from Lita in the WWE and I really don’t see why not!

Okay enough yap! Here’s some nice Pictures of Lita 🙂

Punk and Heyman: Jerrys Heart Attack Segement

Just thought i’d put this out there that I have absolutely no problem with that Punk/Heyman segment.

I’m honestly not surprised that WWE did that, and I do believe that they wouldn’t have went through with it if it wasn’t okay with Jerry. They used to do stuff like that all the time in the attuide era thats what made it great, relax.

Did you all forget those countless times in the WWE where they took real life situations and inserted them into the storylines.

1. Lita cheating on Matt with Edge

2. Jeff Hardy’s house burning down,

3. Jeff Hardy’s drug problem.

That’s just a few of them that I can name off the top of my head. I understand that if you feel that it was taken too far, or that it was too soon, but if you’re gonna go after anybody go after the creative team, not Punk and Heyman.

This is just another way lump more heat  on CM Punk, because we all still think hes great.
